1st Model - Moving Elements
Model obtained through 3D cross modifications:
After further modifications:
Sunrise:
Sunset:
The idea of the moving element is that this large wall on the Studios and Workshops area will be able to move from one side to the other, as a shading device but also energy source (solar panels to be added) for the self-sufficient building.
The other moving element (spinning columns to the spiral staircases access) purpose is to add dynamism and life to the entrances. However it also privileges the students who live in the bridge's college, for they have their own private entrance.

CLASH OF ARCHITECTURE TITANS: THE DILEMMA OF MODERN HOUSING
The Board of Directors of La Biennale
di Venezia, upon recommendation from Alejandro Aravena, have announced that 98 percent of everything that is
built and designed today is “pure shit”. “Houses today are not attached to a value”-Raphael Sperry, founder of
Architects/Designers/Planners for Social Responsibility.
Frank Gehry claimed that there’s no
sense of design, no respect for humanity or for anything else [in houses
projects these days]. This was Gehry’s
response to Deanna
VanBuren’s thesis project, that consisted in a [housing complex in] Paquetá
Island, in the middle of Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro, which both integrates [dwellings] with
a school of [architecture] and is embedded within the community.
Paulo Mendes da Rocha has used his thesis project to
add to this debate, [defending that] VanBuren’s thesis could be the
radical approach answer to the stretched [housing] system in the city of Rio.

Experiment Two
THE TWO CONCEPTS
Do the two concepts suggest a distinctive and significant approach to engaging with the theme the student has chosen?
THE 12 SKETCH AXONOMETRICS
Do the 12 sketch axonometrics communicate a distinctive and significant approach the student has taken with respect to each concept and their possible relationship to one of the themes?
2. A marriage of form and function.
5. A rebellion from convention.
THE 36 CUSTOM TEXTURES
Do the 36 custom textures demonstrate enquiry and experimentation with respect to ideas of light and shadow?
THE IMAGE CAPTURES AND ARCHITECTURE
Do the image captures demonstrate that the student has thought about the relative size of each element, what their proportions are, their orientation, how texture, colour and shadow map over their surfaces and how all of the above work together to establish the balance or otherwise of their scheme

Fusion of innovative design and effective arrangement.
Do the 12 sketch axonometrics communicate a distinctive and significant approach the student has taken with respect to each concept and their possible relationship to one of the themes?
1. Architecture is not static, it keeps evolving.
3. An appearance influenced by activity.
4. Changing perspective for the viewer.
6. Undefined Threshold.

Rebelling from conventional positioning, the tram stop was placed close to the University Gym, unlike most which were placed by the University Mall.
During the day, a glass ceiling provides natural lighting, and at night, lamps on the corner of each level do the job.
Dark texture on the walls and custom made timber texture (with medium texture) on the floor of tram stop. Different levels focusing on better distribution of people.
Besides stairs, ramps were also added for accessing the platform of the the tram stop.
Furthermore, the ceiling is slightly elevated so air flow, inside the stop, occurs - assuring natural ventilation.
